House Bill 186 mandates that the Georgia curriculum be aligned with the National Career Clusters, and House Bill 713 mandates a comprehensive K-5 career development program. As a result, The Georgia Department of Education has developed (17) - grade specific - career awareness activities to assist with the implementation of the College and Career Readiness Performance Indicators for the career development indices.
At the elementary level, it is important that students are exposed to all career options. They begin to think about the concept of work and the numerous work opportunities available in their future. As a result, students in grades 1-5 learn about all seventeen clusters (listed below) before matriculating to middle school.
